LUNULA / LUNNITSA
Centuries ago, it was believed in Slavic villages that women were more susceptible to the actions of magical and evil forces and therefore needed special protection.
The moon has become a symbol of femininity and feminine energy, and a protector of women. This symbolism is still alive among the Slavic peoples.
Lunula is a crescent-shaped pendant, which used to be worn by Slavic women, both single and married. Its name comes from the term the Slavs used to describe the moon – “łuna”. Lunula was a powerful talisman, which boosted fertility, cyclicality, and also crops. It was used to strengthen the bonds of marriage and cured female ailments. It was also an amulet that helped to win the favor of the gods, protecting against the charms and forces of evil. It represented intuition and mystery.
Blue Moonstone promotes clarity of the mind and inner vision, keeping one focused while in a meditative or altered state of awareness. It is particularly helpful in seeing emotional patterns and life lessons, and in balancing yin and yang energies. Moonstone is also the stone of love and eroticism, stimulating the kundalini energy and carnal desires. It is the ultimate fertility crystal.
Moonstone is sacred in India. In Ancient Hindu mythology it was believed that it is made of trapped moonbeams. In ancient Rome, it was thought that Moonstone received its pearly luster from the stored light of the Moon. Ancient Asians believe that the moving light inside the moonstone is a live spirit.
You should remove your jewelry before doing any of the following:
- Using household cleaning supplies.
- Cooking with mustard, onions, eggs, or any other foods that contain sulfur.
- Spraying Hairspray
- putting on lotion and makeup
- taking a bath or shower
- Be careful of soft stones like Turquoise, Lapis, Pearl and Opal and many more, as they can be destroyed by contact with acid and harsh chemicals.
About Copper And Bronze:
Bronze/ Copper: these metals may discolor the skin green. It does not apply to everybody but please be aware that this might happen. I do seal all bronze and copper pendants with renaissance wax, but sealing might wear off after a certain time and need to be re-sealed.
Since the tarnishing process is facilitated by the oxygen in the air, it is advisable to keep your copper/ bronze jewelry in a plastic bag to slow down the formation of patina. You can also put an anti-tarnish strip in the bag.
Make sure you wipe your bronze/copper jewelry dry before storing it: Leaving it to dry in contact with the air makes it easier for patina to form.
